This year, students and staff kicked off their Veterans Day tribute with a “Rally Round the Flag” program, where they surrounded the flagpole just as school started. The Honor Guard from the Fairbury VFW presented the colors, and a trio of trumpet players from the High School performed.

After reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, students went to the gym where they were given a presentation on the history of Veterans Day. Students sang songs and heard from local veterans who were there as part of the recognition ceremony.

Students were encouraged to wear red, white and blue depending on their grade level. At the end of the program, they formed a “human American flag”.
