University students from China visit State Capitol

Secretary of State John Gale welcomes officials, students and musicians from Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) to the State Capitol. They came to Lincoln as part of the Xi’an Jiaotong University Week, Nov. 13 – 16 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, a celebration hosted by the Confucius Institute.

The group had the opportunity to tour the Capitol, and then met with Sec. Gale. They remarked that in China, they would never have the chance to meet a high government official so they were honored to have that opportunity in the United States.

Xi’an Jiaotong University is one of the top universities in China with programs in science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, art, law, philosophy and education. In April of 2012, Xi’an Jiaotong University opened an American Exchange Center, to further foster the relationship between the two countries.
