Nebraska Capitol Forum on America’s Future allows high school classes to study U.S. foreign policy issues. As part of the program, about 100 students attended a daylong event March 26 at the State Capitol to consider the subject. The students attending the event were representatives of their classes. Capitol Forum is sponsored by the Nebraska Humanities Council and Secretary Gale. Gov. Dave Heineman and Secretary Gale addressed the students in a morning session. Members of Nebraska’s congressional delegation – Sens. Ben Nelson and Mike Johanns and Reps. Lee Terry and Adrian Smith – interacted with the students via video conference in an afternoon session.
Among those participating in the event were (from left) Heidi Reinhart of Omaha’s Duchesne Academy, Chris Sommerich of the Nebraska Humanities Council, Secretary Gale and Dennis Fornander of North Platte High School. Reinhart and Fornander were the lead teachers for the event.
