Nebraska students honored for election service


Neal Erickson, Deputy Secretary of State – Elections, welcomes visitors to the State Capitol from Pakistan. The group, made up of educators, researchers, journalists, and professors were invited to the United States as part of the U.S. Department of State’s international Visitor Leadership Program.

More than 260 YES participants from 27 counties worked over 1,460 hours at the polls during the 2012 primary and general elections. YES is a program designed to increase interest and involvement in the election system among youth ages 14-18. Twenty students were awarded $50 savings bonds courtesy of the Nebraska Bankers Association.
