Binational Migrant Education Program honors visiting teachers

Matthew Blomstedt, Commissioner, Nebraska Department of Education; Jorge Espejel Montes, Consul General of Mexico & Cathy Danahy, Chief Deputy Secretary of State.

Teachers from Mexico taking part in the Nebraska Binational Migrant Education Program were honored at the State Capitol on June 23, 2014. The teachers come to learn more about life in Nebraska and to teach students about their own culture in Mexico. Teachers are assigned to various school districts as part of the program. Each teacher received an Honorary Citizenship from the Secretary of State’s office at the completion of their visit.
