Secretary Gale speaks to European visitors

Secretary Gale met with five European visitors who were invited to the United States under the auspices of the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program.  This program is organized by the Institute of International Education, and aims to promote the discussion of U.S. security practices and perspectives.  Sec. Gale welcomed the visitors into the Wherry Room where he spoke about Nebraska, and what makes our state unique.  The visitors also met with former State Senator Bill Avery while in Lincoln.  Their tour of the U.S. includeded stops in Washington, D.C., Virginia, Nebraska, California, New York, and Florida.

Sec. Gale presents a certificate to the representative from the Czech Republic, Mr. Radek Vogl, making him an honorary citizen of Nebraska. Mr. Vogl serves as Advisor to the Head of the Czech Delegation, Czech Parliament, and Parliament Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

Sec. Gale presents honorary Nebraska citizenship to Mr. Mika Varvikko of Finland. Mr. Varvikko serves as Senior Advisor for the Defense Policy Department at the Ministry of Defense in Helsinki.
